CENAM is the Mexican national reference laboratory for measurements. It is responsible for establishing and maintaining national standards, offering metrological services such as calibration of instruments and standards, certification and development of reference materials, courses specialized in metrology, aptitude tests and consultancies. It maintains close contact with other national laboratories and international organizations related to metrology, in order to ensure the international recognition of Mexico's national standards and, consequently, to promote the acceptance of products and services in our country. CENAM, being the primary laboratory of Mexico, does not carry out regulatory activities. The Federal Law on Metrology and Standardization and its Regulations establish the responsibility of the Ministry of Economy and other agencies, such as the National Commission for Standardization and the Federal Attorney's Office for the Consumer, to apply the provisions established by law.
